The RAW Truth Review for 8/27/12

You hear that? Those crickets? Those are all the people excited to see Triple H talk again tonight about his future in the WWE. And that will begin the rematch build between Brock Lesnar and Triple H. So you tens of you who are excited for that match, get ready!

Lawler and 14 Year Old Used In The Same Sentence? Uh Oh...
After a video recap of last week's Punk/Cena/Lawler happenings, Jerry Lawler stepped into the ring. Lawler said that out of respect for the WWE Champion, he apologized. But even after that, he was kicked from behind. Lawler said he wanted an apology from C.M. Punk. Punk asked why the WWE Champion would apologize for doing his job. Punk said he justifiably beat The Rock because of the lack of respect he showed him. Punk said Lawler turned his back on the WWE Universe when he turned his back on the WWE Champion. Punk said he puts down anyone who disrespects him. Punk apologized because apparently all it takes in the WWE to make the Hall of Fame is beating a bunch of nobodies in Memphis and acting like a 14 year old juvenile all his WWE career. Punk said he's sorry for the man that he became. Punk said it looked like Lawler wanted to fight, but Punk would just embarrass him. Punk said the decision was his and walked away. Lawler said he would think about it.

Segment Analysis: Good opening exchange. Punk was honest on the mic when talking about Lawler. His WWE career never amounted to much. This C.M. Punk respect angle is leading to some good promos. It was kind of a weak ending by Lawler there. Good build off of last week. Survey Says: 3.5/5

Ryback Defeated Jack Swagger
Match Analysis: Just like with Brodus Clay, something has to be done with Ryback sooner or later to get him going in an actual program. For Swagger, at least they are playing up his losing streak. It may lead to something, but again, it may not knowing the WWE.

Layla Defeated Natalya
Vickie came out before the match and said to get the match over quick because she had a big announcement. Layla won after a kick to the back of the head. Vickie watched on the entire match uninterested. Vickie said that A.J. abused her power last week when she made Dolph Ziggler out his MITB contract on the mine. Vickie said no one had the guts to stand up to A.J. but her. She called A.J. a mentally deranged child. A.J. came out and skipped around the ring then slapped and attacked Vickie. Vickie ran out.

Segment Analysis: Hmmm, don't really know what the point of that was. Maybe it leads to a more than likely horrible Vickie/AJ match for GM of RAW down the line? Can't we just go a whole month without a question of who is running RAW? It's getting over-bearing. Survey Says: 2/5

Daniel Bryan Anger Management Session. He yelled at the group therapist leader's kid who was wearing a goat mask because he is playing a goat in his school play. Not a good start.

Jerry Lawler accepted C.M. Punk's challenge.

I Paid $90 To See This In Person. Now It's On Free TV!
Miz vs John Cena. The match had some take down headlocks to start before going into commercial. Miz gained control back from break and hit his normal offense including his corner clothesline and axe handle off the top rope. Miz recovered from a suplex with his backbreaker/neckbreaker combo. Miz went for a kick to the face but Cena countered into an STF. Miz got to the ropes. Miz hit a DDT for two. Miz went for the Skull Crushing Finale, Cena countered into an AA attempt, Miz then hit  a back drop. Miz missed a corner clothesline and Cena went into CENAMODE. Cena won with an AA.

Match Analysis: Not much of anything. Typical TV match. Cena won from out of nowhere as Miz dominated most of the match. Weird seeing Cena just come in, wrestle, and leave. I don't like having the Intercontinental Champ lose clean like that, which essentially devalues the Champion. Just average stuff. Survey Says: 2.5/5

Kane showed up to Anger Management in his Welders Mask.

Santino Defeated Heath Slater
Aksana came out to distract The Cobra, and then it turned right into Heath Slater. Weird.

Brodus Clay and Sin Cara defeated Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes
The match started already back from break. The heels took control over Sin Cara. The faces won after Cara made the hot tag. Sin Cara took out Sandow with a dive to the outside then Brodus hit a headbutt and splash on Cody for the win. Remember when Cody Rhodes was in line for a big push? Fans are losing interest quick. Best part was Sin Cara doing the Raptor Dance. Survey Says: 2/5

Kane went over his career in anger management. It was hilarious. Seriously.

R-Truth defeated Daniel Bryan By Countout
Bryan tried to remain calm during his entrance. He even gave Little Jimmy a fist bump. The two ended up outside. Truth grabbed a mic and said he knew they were in Milwaukee. Truth shouted YES, Bryan then shouted NO to everyone and got counted out. Hopefully this Bryan thing has a good pay off down the line. Its funny but it needs to lead to something. Survey Says: 2.5/5

YAWWNNNN
Finally HHH came out to cut his promo. With an "HBK Was Better Than You: sign in the front row. Ha. HHH got all emotional while talking and said everyone comes to a crossroad in their career. He said time was the one thing you cannot fight. He said he didn't want to be the guy that just hung around and waited to long to go. HHH said he doesn't know. He said what he wants to do is be the Cerebral Assassin and rise up again and kick Brock Lesnar's ass. He said that is what he wants to do, but he doesn't know if he can. Hunter said knowing that everyone cared is what got him through everything in his career. He thanked the crowd for letting him play the game, and he thanked the crowd and said hopefully they never forget him.

Segment Analysis: Did that crowd seriously buy that promo? There's a reason HHH didn't do that in Chicago next week. It would have been torn apart. That was just over drawn and way too long and unnecessary. Can't wait for HHH to be talked out of retirement. Survey Says: 1/5

Wrestling? Where's HHH???? #Sarcasm
Dolph Ziggler/Alberto del Rio vs Randy Orton/Sheamus. Orton hit his off the rope suplex on Ziggler then tossed Del Rio to the outside. Sheamus hit a shoulder tackle on Del Rio and Orton hit a powerslam on Ziggler into commercial. Back from break Del Rio and Ziggler worked over Orton. They took turns applying various headlocks/armbars. Del Rio charged at Orton in the corner and Orton tossed him over the ropes onto the floor. Both men made successful tags. Sheamus hit a high knee on Ziggler then an Irish Curse Backbreaker. Del Rio broke up the pin. The ref went to get Del Rio out of the ring. Ricardo slid Ziggler the MITB briefcase. Orton caught Ziggler with a backbreaker and Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick to pick up the win.

Match Analysis: The match was too short to amount to anything, which is a shame because it could have been good. The faces pick up the win, even though we still don't know Orton's position in all of this. I think he will go after Sheamus eventually. Ziggler doesn't look strong again. Hopefully that changes after he cashes in the MITB briefcase. Survey Says: 2.5/5

Zack Ryder defeated David Otunga
Kane came out for commentary and said nothing. After Ryder won Kane came in the ring and went to chokeslam him, but threw him away and chokeslammed Otunga.

Super Cena Apparently Can't Climb A Cage
The WWE Universe voted on a Steel Cage match. Punk offered up the first shot to Jerry Lawler, and Lawler knocked Punk down with a right hand. Punk came back with some knees and a neckbreaker. Punk toyed with Lawler and then applied a headlock. Punk went to the top rope but Lawler knocked him off. Lawler went to escape but Punk pulled him away from the door and hit some elbows. Lawler threw Punk off the cage and got some offense in. He hit his punch off the top rope. Lawler tried to escape again but Punk caught him and hit his high knee. Punk applied the Anaconda Vice and Lawler tapped out.

After the match, Punk locked the cage and grabbed the mic. He wanted Lawler to say he was the best in the world. Lawler said hell no. Punk hit multiple elbows. Punk beat down Lawler while Cena came out. The door was locked. Cena asked to get the cage up. It finally went up and Punk took off and the show ended with Cena and the doctor checking on Lawler.

Segment Analysis: That was a good way to tell a story, but not a good match. It was slow and went on for a bit too long. The WWE is finally trying to get Punk over as a full heel. The problem is next week show is in Chicago, so that will be tough. It was an okay ending, nothing that makes you want to tune in next week. I don't like the silent announcing at the end either. Put over how Punk's actions not just sit there and do nothing. Survey Says: 2/5

OVERALL
There were two things that were good about that show: C.M. Punk's opening promo and Kane in anger management class. Everything else was forgettable. The HHH stuff was so unbearable. No one believes he is gone, except the idiots in the crowd tonight. The WWE is starting to get away from the wrestling they had on the first couple 3 hour RAWs and giving us shorter matches and more useless promos. I don't think there is anything else I can say about this HHH Monday Night HHH RAW Staring HHH With A Special Guest Appearance by HHH. So I will just give the show a 2 and call it a day.

Until Next Time,
